I listened to Tim O’Brian’s lecture at the Stubblefield
Center yesterday. It was crowded with many people so, I felt that he is famous
in the United States. To be honest, I could understand his lecture only a
little. It was difficult for me to understand his English, but I think I tried my
best to hear his lecture. When he was young, He participated in the Vietnam War
as an infantryman. Then he entered Harvard University, and he became a
novelist. He is a famous novelist in the United States. In addition, he probably
talked about war, family, and food. I couldn’t understand other things that he
said, so I asked about this lecture to an American. They answered, “The most of
important word is PATRIOTISM.” I thought he had experience in Vietnam War so, he
is treasuring his country. On this occasion, I thought I have to study English
more.
