I think that not finishing food is bad
manners in the U.S. Japanese people often say ”Mottainai.” Mttainai means to not
waste things. In Japan, children are often told by their parents or their
teacher “Do not leave food.” As a result, many Japanese people value food, so
Japanese people do not waste food. However, many Americans waste food. I often
see dishes which have leftovers in the cafeteria. In my apartment, my roommate
often throws food in the trash. I think leaving food is rude to the people who
cooks the food and grows the food, so I think that wasting food is bad manners
in the U.S.
It is a good manner not to waste food, it is the same in my country.
