Blog Assignment #63 by Ayaka

I will talk about compared to the first day I came here.I don't know about Arkansas before I came here. I felt Arkansas is very interesting.Maybe all states of United States are interesting for me,because American culture is very different from Japanese culture.I felt UAFS is cool.In Japan,my university is small than UAFS.I was surprised that distance to walk from Lion's den to the classroom.I like large campus.I thought American university is freedom. They come to the school by car, they move by skateboard on campus. The first day,I almost couldn't understand what did they say...I thought maybe I can't live here.but I became able to hear simple English.I learned some slang.I was glad that I could understand a meaning of the slang when I talked with American.I still can't get good results on the English test, but I felt I learned a lot of wards, culture, and others.so I enjoyed every day.

I am going to write about English. I know that English is one of the easiest language in the world. I had learned English since I was a 5th grade in elementaly school. I was not good at English. However, I liked to learn English. I think that it s difficult for me to learn someone's said. It was very hard when I just came in the U.S. I couldn't understood even parts of conversation. I was very tired when I joined cab camp, but I was used in a situation. I learned about communication. I thought that it is possible for us to communication without conversation. However, it is very hard. I prefer to use English. I thought my English is better then when I came here. I could tell that I want to tell. I have an ability to express what I want to say. I think that I want to develop my English.

Hello, I want to write about my English skills. Last mounts we took a TOFEL test. Is was hard for me. One of my friends had taken about the same test. He is good ah English. But he told me. It was so hard. I want to get a better score. I don't know that my English skill is improving or not. I hope it improves. At first, I was worried about speaking to people in English. I can speak English now. Of course, it was not perfect English, but I can speak in loud a voice. I was afraid of reading a long sentence which is written in English. I am not afraid of it anymore. I want to stay here longer. I think that I had just started from studying English when I came here. I want to visit America in the future. I really want to do it.

I think my English skill is improving, because I met my roomies first time, I couldn't speak than now. Also, listening skill is improving. I was surprised at my English listening skill when I came here first. I couldn't understand anything. However, now, I can understand what they say, but it takes time to understand completely. So I need more English listening skill also understand earlier.
My first impression of UAFS was big. Because my University in Japan is not big. Also there are no famous monument. But here, it has bell tower as symbol. Also I was surprised at Arkansas English intonations. I had never herd about "a" intonation. First I hard that, I didn't understand. I don't know it's defferent intonation. I couldn't realize these difference if I would'nt come here.

We have to return to Japan in a few weeks. Three months passed by fast. I had longed to go to America, so when I came to Arkansas for the first time, I was very impressed. At first, the people of Arkansas greeted us with a smile at an airport, and a smell was different from Japan when I went out of an airport. Moreover, Cars drive on the right side of the road, and the driver’s seat was the left side. When I watched scenery from a car, there was nothing! I felt that America is very large. I wasn’t able to hear English well.

Now, I like Arkansas and UAFS. The people of Arkansas are very kind. I feel relaxed when I’m here. When I came here, I thought that same thing. I became able to hear English than the first time, but I still find it difficult. So I have to study English more!

I think languages are interesting. We are the same human but we can't understand each language. If I say sarcasm in here, nobody can understand what I say. It's mysterious. I think UAFS is good place but there is nothing to go weekend. I think English speaking skills are better than before I came to America. But my English listening skills are worse than before I came to the America. I forgot how to listen to English. So I think i can't understand English now. I'm also afraid of using English. I can't understand why. But I like my teachers and tutors. I wanna speak with more American people. I have to study English hard. I wanna born in the place which people speak English. If I born there,I don't have to study English.
