Introduction

Hello, my name is Rasila Soumana Hama; I am a senior Biology major here at UAFS. I am originally from Niger, West Africa and French is my first language. I am not much of a sports person, but i enjoy running, reading, cooking and sometimes knitting. This is my last year here, and i intend to enjoy it as much as possible.

On another note, I will be supervising your blogs this semester. Every morning I will post a question on the blog, and you will need to answer it in 3, 5 or 10 sentences depending on the question.  The questions will not be too challenging I promise. You will need to submit your answer before 11:59 pm that same day. Each post will be worth 50 points. Failure to submit an entry by the due date and time will result in a warning, plus some extra homework.

Welcome to UAFS and enjoy your experience!

Welcome to The University of Arkansas - Fort Smith

Dear ACE Students,

Welcome to UAFS and the Lion Family. We are so thankful to have you all here and we wish your stay will be one of the most pleasant.
I have to warn you though, your first two weeks are not  going to be easy due to the jet lag and the cultural differences. You will also miss your friends and family. But let me tell you something, it's okay. You will get pass that phase, we will do our best to help you during that transition.
As you will come to realize by yourself,UAFS is a very beautiful and safe campus. It is small enough that every single student matters, and your success is very dear to us.
Here are some tips which i hope will help you during your stay:
1- Don't be Shy!
2- Ask questions, be curious! Nobody is going to make fun of you if you make a mistake.
3- Try very hard to speak as little Japanese as possible. You are here to learn English.
4- Be polite and show up to all your Classes!
5- Tardiness or missing classes is not acceptable here.
6- Enjoy your college experience!
7- Get involved. Meet new people, share your culture and learn about theirs.
8- The Office of International Relations is here for you, talk to us if you have any issue or concern. We will be more than glad to help or direct you where you can get that help.

On behalf of all the International students here at UAFS, i would like to welcome you all again. Enjoy the experience!
